Back once again, its the shadowy label that brought us one of last years biggest underground techno hits, the one that had half the DJs in Berlin and beyond all creaming their tight trousers with excitement at the sheer no-nonsense ethic behind the music. Straight up techno, nothing wildly experimental, but with a deep richness and originality that lifted it well above last years glut of Basic Channel-inspired dub techno. A solid reminder that new techno does not need to fit into the already dated sounding 'Minimal' mould that has been brutalised incessantly over the last 5 years.
The second Seldom Felt slab is just as enticing, with A1 weaving a complex web of percussion and synth that is equal parts Wild Planet, Suburban Knight and Surgeon, at least to my ears anyway. On the flip is a far more stark 4-4 affair, with jacking analogue drums making up a steady throbbing pulse with which to hypnotise the listener as other murky sounds appear and disappear along the way.
An essential purchase for all techno fans, highly limited so don't snooze.
