Abdul Haqq isn't a name that every fan of Detroit Techno knows but his images have helped create a public face to what is often described as a "faceless" musical form. His work dates back to the earliest day of music from the Motor City with label artwork for Transmat, Planet E, and of course, Underground Resistance.
This latest project is a combination of Art Book and Music CD combining imagery that Haqq has created especially for the project alongside tracks from Derrick May, Carl Craig, Jeffs Mills, UR, the Martian and two unreleased tracks by Suburban Knight. Each image is accompanied by a Story or Legend and the imagery pulls from Haqq's well known Sci Fi and Aztec influences to produce a slick and powerful document of his work over the last 20 years.
This limited edition English version (the book has previously only been avaiable in Japan) also has a video interview with Carl Craig, Derrick May and Jeff Mills.
