One of Allen & Heath's newest mixers, the X:one 42 introduces a couple of changes to the X:one range. The first addition you'll notice is the USB port on top of the mixer which lets you use it as an audio interface for your computer. This not only gives you a really convenient way to record your mixes but also gives you a stereo channel back from your computer which appears on the mic channel of the X:one 42. So, if you've got a CD or vinyl setup and you're looking for a straightforward way to start intergrating your computer then the X:one 42 provides you with a compact means to do so. Allen & Heath have also slightly revised their already astonishingly good X:one VCF filter system. The main change is that the new filter system is routed so you can send any of the 4 main channels out to an auxiliary send and then back through the filter for incredible, creative results. All in all, the X:one 42 is a welcome addition to the X:one range and is perfect for bedroom DJs who are looking to treat themselves to a pro quality mixer or for a DJ who wants a mixer to add to their gig setup.
