Alesis are a company that have a highly respected past - in the 80's and 90's they helped a million Home and Project Studios embrace the Digital Revolution with their highly affordable Digital Reverb and FX units (the MidiVerb and then the ubiquitous Quadraverb) and the almighty ADAT which allowed clear as a bell Digital Recording at home for the first time (other systems which were about at the time could easily set you back 25 to 35 Thousand Pounds - enough to buy a small Housing Estate in the 80's!!!).
These days they have transformed themselves into a company that offers affordable and high quality Instruments (Synths and Drum Machines and Electronic Drum Kits), Mixers (with built in FX and USB), Monitors (Home Studio and Live Sound), USB Microphones and more - you could probably kit out an entire studio from start to finish with things that just said "Alesis" on the front.
They're not afraid to take the odd risk either - who else would have released an all analogue monster Poly Synth like the Andromoda ten years before the likes of Moog and Dave Smith would make their comeback and everybody wanted a little Analogue Squelch in their lives?
Finally, honorable mention goes to the SR-16 Drum Machine - first released back in 1991, it's STILL in production and still sounds great - there's no other unit in Electronic Music history that's been in continuous production for that length of time! Rock on Alesis!
